Talk: Bone marrow

From open-encyclopedia.com - the free encyclopedia.

A paragraph suggesting that eating bone marrow reduces coronary heart disease keeps getting added. It shouldn't be unless there some evidence to back it up. The idea that the addition of bone marrow to one's diet reduces the risk of coronary heart disease doesn't follow from the fact that it contains a substance that lowers LDL: it also contains a lot of other substances. - Nunh-huh 04:58, 17 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Thus the "Some believe" disclaimer. "What people believe is a matter of objective fact, and we can present that quite easily from the neutral point of view." See NPOV for more info. --Pascal666 14:34, 17 Jun 2004 (UTC)
I'm familiar with NPOV: it requires the attribution of opinions. "Some believe" is waffle unless you name the "some". If there is no evidence about the health effects (if any) of the addition of bone marrow to the diet (and I rather suspect there is not) we should so state instead of including speculation in an encyclopedia. - Nunh-huh 17:57, 17 Jun 2004 (UTC)
A quick google search yielded this article. --Pascal666 21:37, 17 Jun 2004 (UTC)
Which is about wild game vs. farm-raised meat, and mentions marrow once, in passing. No one quoted there says "marrow reduces your cardiovascular risk". No one quoted there even says eating game reduces your cardiovascular risk: they only say they are going to test that hypothesis. - Nunh-huh 22:20, 17 Jun 2004 (UTC)
Do your own research if you want to edit an article. Until then stop editing things you know nothing about. --Pascal666 00:42, 6 Dec 2004 (UTC)
I've done research: it doesn't say what you are claiming. If you want to add health claims to the article, please also add references that actually support them. - Nunh-huh 03:06, 6 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Since the link to Bone marrow cancer doesn't work, it should instead link to at least leukemia, and possibly more disorders related to bone marrow. I've taken the liberty of replacing Bone marrow cancer with leukemia, more to follow. --Gadriel 03:16, Nov 25, 2004 (UTC)
